Did you know that water softeners have an average lifespan of about 8-10 years? When the time comes to replace yours, you'll want to follow these instructions. Let's get started.
Click each step below to expand.
Step 1 - Depressurize the Unit
1. You'll want to start this process by bypassing your softener by pushing IN on the handle in the back of the unit:
2. Go ahead and hold the Recharge button down until you hear the motor start to turn, then let go. The motor will stop after a few seconds. You'll see ‘Recharge Now’ or ‘Recharging’ flashing on the screen.
3. Press the ‘Recharge’ button one time quickly. The motor will turn on, moving to the next cycle.
4. Repeat Step 3 until the flashing 'recharge' indicator disappears from your screen.
Step 2 - Disconnect the Unit
1. Now, you can remove the black C-clips from the softener/bypass connection. Pull one side of the black plastic C-clip away from the softener, and slowly roll it towards the other side to remove.
***If the clips seem stuck, slowly and gently rock the softener back and forth slightly while applying pressure to the clip as described above to free them.
2. Carefully pull the softener away from the bypass assembly.
3. You'll need to turn off the main water supply to the home. Then depressurize your plumbing by opening a few cold and hot water faucets downstream of the softener, allowing them to empty completely.
4. Once your plumbing is empty, go ahead and remove the bypass assembly and adaptors (if you have them) from your home plumbing.
Step 3 - Install Your New Unit
You're ready to connect your new water softener! For instructions, you'll need to review the Owner's Manual or visit our Installation Guide.
