If you notice your tank is filling with water or not draining properly, you may have an internal leak. Let's go through a few steps here and then do a quick test.
Before You Start
- Make sure your unit is not in a recharge cycle. The home screen will show if it's in a recharge cycle. If it is, wait to perform the following steps when the unit is done recharging.
Step 1 - Remove Brine Hose
1. First, you'll need to remove the top cover. Click here for more detailed directions on how.
2. Next, you'll need to bypass the water softener by pushing the handle IN on the back of your unit. This will stop water from coming in or out of the softener while you work:
3. Go ahead and disconnect the black Brine hose from the Venturi (white cone piece). Identify yours below.
- If yours has a white nut attached to the Venturi (may have an elbow adaptor or may just connect directly): unscrew the nut by twisting it counter-clockwise and pull the hose off. Grab a bowl and set it underneath to catch any water.
- If your hose doesn't have that white nut, you have the 'push to connect' type. For this type, you'll need to push the small collet piece in and pull the hose out at the same time to remove. Grab a bowl and set it underneath to catch any water.
4. Now, you can take your unit out of bypass by pulling the bypass handle back OUT.
Time to test. You'll need to turn on a softened water faucet in your home, and leave it running for 5-10 minutes. Then, return to your unit.
Did water leak out of the venturi port into your bowl?
- YES - Bypass the unit again by pushing the handle back IN. There is most likely a broken seal inside your valve head. We recommend replacing the Rotor/Seal Kit. To see if you're still covered under warranty, check out What is My Warranty. Otherwise, you can find more information about purchasing replacement parts here.
- NO - You may have an internal leak somewhere else within your system. Please Contact Us for further troubleshooting help.
