Step 1 - Preparing the Install Location
1. Pull the refrigerator out far enough to easily access the water supply tubing.
2. Go ahead and close the incoming water supply valve to the refrigerator and then unplug the refrigerator from the outlet.
3. Our filter connects to 1/4" tubing. Measure the width of your water supply tubing and determine whether you'll need to purchase an extra adaptor.
Step 2 - Preparing the Water Line
Follow the instructions for your type below:
Plastic lines
1. You'll want to place a towel or bucket under the installation area to catch any residual water.
2. Now, you're going to cut the line - make sure to leave enough tubing to allow you access to the filter in the future. Go ahead and make a square cut in the line where you'd like the filter to connect.
3. You can insert the plastic tubing in the INLET quick-connect green collet port on the filter. Give it a tug to confirm it's connected securely.
Braided lines
1. At the back of the refrigerator, you'll unscrew the line.
2. Using two adjustable wrenches, screw the adaptor (included) into the end of the braided line.
3. You can insert the plastic tubing in the INLET quick-connect green collet port on the filter. Give it a tug to confirm it's connected securely.
Step 3 - Flush the Filter and Test
1. Place the filter inside a 5-gallon bucket and turn the water supply on. Let 4-5 gallons of water flush through the filter. This rinses out any loose particles or carbon.
2. Once flushed, turn the water supply back off and complete the install:
- Plastic Lines - Insert the tube into the OUTLET quick-connect green collet port on the filter. Give it a tug to confirm it's connected securely.
- Braided Lines - Attach the other adaptor (included) onto the extra length of braided line. Then, insert that adaptor into the OUTLET quick-connect green collet port on the filter. Give it a tug to confirm it's connected securely. Attach the other end of the braided line onto the back of the refrigerator.
3. Go ahead and turn the water supply back on. At this time, you want to watch for any leaking.
4. Optional: Mount the filter using a mounting bracket (not included). We recommend keeping the filter behind the refrigerator, or somewhere where it's going to be protected.
5. Last step is to plug the refrigerator back into the outlet, and move it back into place.
