What does a water softener do?
Our water softeners are designed to provide consistent soft water by performing frequent, on-demand recharge cycles. These cycles use salt water to rinse out any contamination and debris from the filtration media in your system.
Adding Salt
We recommend filling the salt tank 1/4 to 1/2 full with a water softening salt, and programming your softener each time you add new salt to the tank. To learn more, visit our Adding Salt to the Tank article.
Salt Bridging
Bridging occurs most often in high-moisture environments, or from overfilling the salt tank. Long idle time between recharges can also increase the risk of salt solidifying. You can routinely check for bridging by pushing a rounded-end tool into the salt in several spots, making sure it is loose and moveable. To learn more, visit our Salt Bridge / Block article.
Cleaning the Venturi and Drain Hose
It is advised to clean both the venturi and drain hose annually to reduce the risk of drain obstructions. For a video demo and written steps on the proper procedure, visit our Cleaning the Venturi and Cleaning the Drain Hose articles.
EcoPure Water Softener Cleanser
Administering our water softener cleanser to your system every 4 months will help your system work at peak performance. The liquid solution is designed to maximize your softener's efficiency by reducing contaminants, iron, and scale buildup inside your system. For directions on use, visit our EcoPure Water Softener Cleanser article.
Is My Softener Working?
There are few simple checks you can perform to ensure your softener is working correctly - proper programming, water flow, and salt/water levels in the tank. Follow our Is My Softener Working? video guide to perform these checks.
