Your softener has a small internal memory, but is not able to save your programmed settings forever. Follow our suggestions below for rebooting your system after being out of service.
Clean the Brine Tank
1. Empty the brine tank of all water and salt - we recommend using a small bucket or wet/dry vac for this. Salt that is dry and in its original shape (pellet or crystal) can be reused. All dirty or metled salt should be removed and disposed of.
2. Use a damp cloth to wipe out the inside of the brine tank until clean. Be sure to wipe around the inner fiberglass tank and brinewell tube (with number scale).
3. Fill the tank with 3 gallons of fresh water and then add salt (do NOT add any salt into the brinewell tube). We recommend filling the tank no higher than (halfway) to reduce salt bridging in the future. You can allow the salt to drop to level 2 before refilling.
Check Your Programming
Depending on howl long the system was out of service, you may have lost some programming settings. Consult your Owner's Manual or our Programming article for further instruction.
Run a Manual Recharge
Hold the 'Recharge' button for about three seconds until you hear the motor turn on, then let go. The motor will only run for a few seconds - this is normal. You will see a flashing recharge indicator on the screen for the duration of the cycle. The cycle will last about 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
